YYZ-NRT 1/2 points on the YVR segment?

  • When flying YYZ to NRT does AC give 50% points on the YYZ-YVR segment?

  • If it is recorded as a single flight number, you'll receive 100% credit based on the non-stop YYZ-NRT distance. This works out to be a few hundred miles more than the half-miles YYZ-YVR plus the full miles YVR-NRT. At least that was the case on my recent HKG-YVR-YYZ flight.

And if AC had that non-stop you so want Why Fly, you'd still get fewer net miles than even taking separate flight numbers into/out of YVR at half mileage.

So I suppose it may be worth the hassle and cost of transiting via an American city to get full miles on UA, rather than missing about 1500 miles taking AC. But if you buy and upgradeable H or other economy fare, you'd get full mileage, plus the domestic 25% bonus on the domestic segments if they were separate flights.

  • One more reason not to fly with AC to ASIA from YYZ http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

  • Unless your fare is Y or M, then the answer is yes - 50% on the domestic segment.
