Would it be accurate to describe someone who doesn't follow proper immigration procedures as a "maverick"?

  • A maverick is a "lost cow". Most illegal immigrants didn't "stray" over the border, the came here on purpose. Therefore...no.

  • No! a maverick is one who goes against the norms or establishment (Actually referenced to a person that refused to brand his herd). Not violate the law.

    A person that enters the country and does not follow the laws to become a resident alien, student visa, or citizen, or other status as established by the government is breaking the law therefore an illegal alien (or to be nice undocumented immigrant)
