Word 2003 - Slow Doc Closing

Saving to Novel Network
I'm finding since I was upgraded to newer (used) computer and to Windows XP and Word 2003, when I save files to the network it's taking a longer time than usual for the document to save.
For instance I can open up 2 documents, work in one and save it. It'll take 12-15 seconds for I'm allowed to work in the second document.
Even after the 1st document is no long viewable on my monitor, I can still see the details for it (i.e., # of pages) in the bottom task bar.
I seem to be the only one in the office having this particular problem, even though some people are on slower computers than I have.
I have a feeling something needs to be checked/unchecked or I have some program which conficts. Note, I don't seem to have the same problem when I'm using Excel.
I would appreciate any help you can provide.
