Will reading a book with my aunt bring her and I closer?

  • My birthday is coming up. And I want to read with my aunt. I am going to bring like 3 or 4 books so that we can pick one out together. Will it bring her and I close?


  • It depends. But it'll definately give you something both to talk about whether you two are enjoying the book etc.


  • That really just depends. If I like a book I will ask my mother to read it. We read Marley and Me and we loved it. I asked both of my sisters to read it too. However, I just asked my mother to read Flowers in the Attic and I'm not sure what she'll think. It depends on you guys, but also, pick a book that's not too controversial and stays away from hot button pushing topics like racism or religion unless you know you guys are in sync on that.


  • its worth a try... it may. but it really depends. i recommend the Twilight series. something you could talk about and have in common. something you both could enjoy.


  • That depends on alot of things. Are you going to like read it to yourselves or out loud to eachother. Are you going to stop at certian parts and discuss the book. Personally i dont think its the greates idea to bring you closer. Go out for lunch and talk the whole time. If you want to talk about books aske her to read one you are going to read and then you can talk about it at lunch.It really does depend on your aunt as well.

    I suggest my sisters keeper (i know i already mentioned this in your other question) but its a truly amazing book and trust me it will give you alot to talk about.

  • I agree with Brandilo about staying away from some topics, but overall, I think it very well could.

    Have you discussed this with her? If not, mayne picking something on a topic you know she's interested in, then suggest a book.

    Or, tell her you'd like to do this with her, and have her pick a book.

    If you are close to your aunt anyway, or she has difficulty reading herself, reading aloud can be excellent, but only if both parties are into it.


  • I think it would be something that would bring you closer. Enjoying a good book and each other's company will definitely create good memories for both of you.


  • It probably will. You just need to choose a book that you would both like. For example if you both liked reading True Stories get one of the "My Story" series. I hope this works.
