What do you think of Joe Biden's comments? Don't you think either Candidate would face threats?

  • Senator Joe Biden, Democratic VP candidate says that within 6 months after President Obama takes office there will be a 'test' of his strength on the international level (I'm not quoting exactly)

In 2001, it was not quite 8 months after George W Bush took office that 9/11 happened. Other Presidents have faced international crises early in their administration. I think it is likely this could happen with either candidate and I think it is likely to occur. But did it seem strange to come from his own VP candidate?

  • Yes and it's more scary thinking of how the war monger will get us into another war sending us deeper into a Depression so we'll be "safe" and hungry. Biden was trying to bring himself up and talked too much.

  • Yes I think that either candidate will face threats after they take office. His statement was oversimplified in my opinion. Obama will have the support of the world behind him while McCain won't as he's already made warmongering statements like "Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran" and another remark about destroying North Korea but I can't remember the exact words of that statement.

Look at what happened on the day that the new leader of Pakistan took office, at this point in time in history it seems that all new leaders are being tested.

  • Biden recognizes that Obama would be an easy 'meal' for terrorist countries. Obama is critically inexperienced and naive. Face it.... a Community Organizer is not a Commander in Chief.

  • I think Joe Biden hit the nail on the head because Obama would be a naive president, just like Kennedy was when he took office. Khruschev salivated, hoping that America would elect Kennedy. When America elected Kennedy, Khruschev saw his opportunity and the following happened:

The following was found on a blogger's sit. It says it in a nutshell.

"Thing is, JFK's mishandling of the Bay of Pigs was the direct cause of the Cuban missle crisis. It emboldened Kruschev to try to take advanctage of him. It brought us very close to nuclear war, his inexperience and naivity. I will give him credit, he did stand up, but he also agreed to leave Cuba alone as part of the price to get the Soviets to withdraw their missles. History tells us he never expected to land a man on the moon by the end of the decade. It was a political ploy. It never would have been done had he lived. When he died, it became a commitment to his memory. I am happy about that as my Father was one of the NASA team that made it happen."

Yes, there is a possibility that either candidate could face threats. The difference is that John McCain is so experienced, qualified and prepared to face them head on and protect America. Obama is dangerous because he just does not get it. He does not understand that one cannot reason with certain countries, because they do not see things the way that we do.

George Bush has done an excellent job of keeping our country safe since 911. Had Clinton done his job, when he was president, there would not have been a 911. Our intelligence agencies handed him Osama Bin Laden three times on a silver platter, but Clinton was too naive on two occasions. On the third occasion he was playing golf. By the time he got through with his game, Osama Bin Laden had disappeared.

Thank God Joe Biden made that statement, because it may wake a few people up. Yes, but Joe has made other strange remarks before, sort of has a reputation for doing that. However, it is not just Obama that is a problem, but Joe Biden is more often wrong than right when it comes to foreign policy. He, too, is a threat to our national security.

We need a thoroughly qualified and completely prepared candidate to lead our country during this time of terrorism and that candidate is John McCain. He can hit the ground running from day one The foreign countries do respect him and are afraid of him.

  • It was the most stupid thing anyone has said so far. It implies that it is more likely to happen if Obama wins than if McCain wins.

Biden seems to open his mouth before getting hs brain in gear.

  • Obama's VP knows Barack is not ready nor qualified to handle that kind of situation. It is more likely Obama will have to face it than McCain because McCain has made known he will not stand for an attack on American soil. There will be a price to pay.

  • The international test will be posed to whomever wins the presidency. Biden was only talking about Obama because he mentioned it while assuming Obama wins the presidency. He probably should have phrased his comments better, but that's Joe for you.

  • Why are you suprised that a VP candidate would speak the truth? Been listening to Palin too much?

Any crisis that will come up will see Obama dealing with it in a calm collected manner, taking in appropriate advice and coming up with a plan of action and leading people to enact that plan.

We could expect McCain to run around in 20 different directions like a chicken with his head cut off just like he has run his campaign.

  • the middle east and certain eastern europe country's think obama is weak they have said so plenty of times on foreign news stations(why else do you think the want him elected).McCain is seen as a hothead and to scary to mess with....another thought Biden is on the board of foreign affairs..he should know what hes talking about.people look it up dont take my word for it.

  • Not right away. Our enemies know that John McCain has been a warrior. In that sense, they also knew Reagan wouldn't take any BS. However, both JFK was, like Obama, relatively young and without much impact on foreign policy. The fifties were relatively tranquil. Obama is thought of as an appeaser in the mold of Neville Chamberlain because of Obama's perceived soft stance on military matters.

  • Of course it will happen, Al Qaida is notorious for planning attacks at the beginning of terms of governments. I don't seriously think they fear Republicans either, after Bush they are probably still laughing at him in a cave so its not that we could avoid it by not electing Obama.
Hearing reality is strange coming from a candidate, I hope we become used to it.

The other point of course is McCains ugly racist campaign. The endless smears by association, the admission several weeks ago that they plan to undermine his decency in the eyes of America, and plan to 'go negative'. Calling him by inference a terrorist and 'not our kind', they incite vicious incidents they didn't quite seem prepared for.
Like 'he is not an Arab'.
And she didn't believe McCain when he told her that. What do you think the crazier among them are planning when day and night they are peppered with the idea that if Obama is elected the American way of life will fall to socialism or communism? Don' t you think one nut with a gun will try to 'save the country'?
This is very dangerous turf they walk on here. It would be wise to put it to bed and concentrate on policy, and if they can't win on that alone, they will at least have a clear conscience and their dignity.

  • I think that it's kind of funny that they are talking about having some kind of "crisis" in the first year to test his strength as president. Does that mean that they are going to manufacture some kind of attack so they can get credit for fixing it? Sounds kind of 1984ish to me.

  • It doesn't matter who becomes President, there will be threats. What matters is how are these threats going to be handled. Obama doesn't have a spine. He'll just try to "talk" his way out of it. Wouldn't work with Hitler, why would it work now? In these times we need someone who is tough that will not take "no" for an answer. We need someone that is brave enough to use action when action is needed. Obama thinks Iran is a small country. He thinks they won't attack Israel or anyone else. Who is he kidding??

  • Why is it strange, he's discussing a pattern.

  • I think its likely there will be some kind of event in the world within the next year. That's a pretty safe bet if you look at the previous years.
