  • Inclusion Body Disease. Appears in some boas and pythons, and the occasional anaconda. Its a neurological disorder.

  • Inclusion Body Disease is a highly infectious disease that is prevalent in boids (boas and pythons). At this time there is no treatment or cure except supportive care for symptomatic patients.

To prevent this to pass into a collection, newly acquired snakes should go through a 3 to 6 month (that is correct) quarantine to prevent spread to other snakes.

There is so much that you may want to know that its better to refer you to resources:

  • IBD is Inclusion Body Disease. Pythons and boas are highly susceptible to this disease and there is no known cure. It is the equivalent to AIDS for these snakes.

  • Inclusion Body Disease (IBD), is a neurological disorder in pythons and boas. It is "highly contagious!" So if you have come into contact with a snake that has or maybe you just think it has IBD you need to wash your hands thoroughly to prevent spreading it to other snakes.
And when bringing in a new snake to your collection you need to quarantine it for the first few months by placing it in it's own cage and not handling other snakes in your collection until after washing your hands from handling the new snake.

    I hope this helps.
