Very suprised...is it always this bad?

  • I'm new to this yahoo answer service. I've been using it for about a month and I'm really suprised by how many people have questions about breeding their dogs all the time. The majority of them seem to have no clue about what they are doing. I know alot about breeding dogs, but would still never even consider it, It really goes to show how uneducated people are.
    Just makes me think....
No wonder we have so many homeless dogs out there!
P.S I'm not pointing fingers at anyone...there are good breeders.

What are your opinions on this??

  • :P You can see our opinion in the answers we give everyone who asks those kinds of questions. Most of us think the same.

  • Yep, it's always this bad. That's why it's insane that people blame the overpopulation crisis on good breeders rather than the numbskulls that think breeding is just sticking two mutts together and letting nature take over!! The good breeders are obviously very outnumbered by the numbskulls judging by Yahoo answers!

  • So true... I noticed this also. Unfortunately this is the case! People just don't see it as a problem. Maybe if they did the research first they would change their mind. You know what though there are people out there that have children that shouldn't. You just step back take a deep breath and hope that they read the answers and change their mind.

  • Sweetheart, I agree with you 100 percent! It seems like every other question I see, has to do with some BYB, who doesn't have the slightest clue what they are doing! It also seems like no matter how many times you tell them, that they need to leave the breeding to the professionals, who know exactly what they are doing, and who are breeding for the right reasons, goes in one ear and out the other! Sometimes I wonder, how these poor dogs come through these situations and how many of their puppies, end up in Shelters and end up getting Euthanized!

  • I think that a lot of people underestimate how hard it is to properly breed and care for your pregnant dog and the puppies to follow. they just see $$$ when they see how much people are selling their puppies for and do not realize that many people just get back their expenses if they are lucky.
A few of us do want to breed our dogs but are willing to put in the time and money to learn how to do it properly and find a mentor as I was advised to do ans have now done even though I won't be breeding my dog for another year or so.

  • Unfortunately, puppies = money.
There are just as many, if not more, uneducated people buying these puppies.

  • I have only been on yahoo answers for a week or two and I am appalled at the people who want to breed their dogs just because!!!! It makes me want to throw up cry and scream all at the same time!

  • yup. its true. i was like that too. joined in may i think, but my account got suspended a couple times :)

  • i agree with you!!! i think those people are completely irresponsible and uneducated about the seriousness of breeding an animal. i just roll my eyes and ignore the question. teh same questions pop up all the time on this site

  • well my opinion is these people are going to breed their dogs anyways and for these people to just answer to say their not going to help and demand to get their dogs spayed really upsets me, if you know so much and we come here for some help why cant you give some, it will happen and the people would be better educated, it just doesn't make sense to come on here to ask a question about your dog and have people tell you they will not help you, ridiculous to me, btw I am one of those people though I have searched all over the net and have educated myself a little more, but it would be nice to get some help from a more experienced breeder and it never happens. and i am not in it for the money. whoever was talking about putting 2 dogs together and let nature take over..that is exactly what should happen what else, hold your dog while the stud mounts it?! talk about dog rape, i just dont get it, you people complain but in the end these things DO happen and it's really better in the end if they get the help they come here for.

  • When I started learning about breeding, I had my dog spayed!!!

Too much at risk, not to mention I found later that my dog had genetic problems! I did not want that on my conscious!!! Although the stud's owner still wanted to breed... I was furious! Even though I told her my dog had genetic problems....

  • welcome to the mad house.

  • Always! As long as there are people on the planet there will be idiots and greedy monsters who will breed their dogs regardless. I dont even honor their questions with an answer, mostly because I know I lack the ability to answer their questions with out a whole lot of four letter adjectives

p.s. Beautiful dog in your avatar!! An aussie?

  • No, it's not always this bad. It's usually worse!

One time there was a kid who had a mutt litter and one puppy had a broken neck. We found this out in the same question when she asked how much tickets to a theme park were. Of course there was no money to take the pups to a vet for anything routine, like shots, deworming, flea control...let alone a broken neck. But her question included what should the asking price for lab/shar-pei mix pups be. Then of course we were all mean, rotten bastards for telling her the vet was essential for the broken-necked pup and the rest of the litter needed attention too.

  • True there are good breeders and bad ones and there are over 1 million dogs with out homes. It doesn't matter how hold the dog is its still homeless, Puppies, Adults, and our Senior dogs. The best way to stop the over population would be with Spay and Neuter. No they are not the worse thing the animal wont even notice.

  • I would like to answer by saying that I dog breeder has to start somewhere. You don't become a good breeder overnight. I think that is a good thing that people are asking questions to make sure that they do things right and maybe they change their mind sometimes after seeing the answers. I do agree that there are a lot of homeless dogs out there because of irresponsible people, but a lot of other stupid decisions are made too.

  • I agree with you 100%. People have no idea what they are doing yet they want to breed their mixed breed dogs. They don't know the proper care to give their already pregnant dogs, and they have no idea what to expect when the dog is ready to give birth. They usually never have the money to take the dog to the vet, so how they are going to care for a litter of pups is a mystery to me. I really pity the dogs that these people own.

  • I agree 100%.

iv been on here for so long! i learn to ignore those. I mean i think i have answered about 1,000 'how do i breed my dog' questions. Watch after a few months on here you will notice how many of the same questions pop up a day! lol.
