TV Show library scanning setup problem

  • I've only just started trying to using the library function and I'm not having a lot of joy, scans don't seem to be picking up anything.
    Here's what I've done

    Shared my tv and movie directory using sango on my PC
    Added a location to XBMC that looks at that share (xbms://ipaddress:port/movies)
    Gone to video, chosen my share and highlighted the TV directory
    Brought up the context menu and set the media type to TV shows
    Attempted a scan, nothing happens.


    My directory structure is laid out as
    SHARE/tv/show name/ExxSxx.ext
    or
    SHARE/tv/show name/ExxSxx episode name.ext

    in AdvancedSettings.xml I have

    [Ss]([0-9]+)[Ee]([0-9]+)


    If i navigate into the tv directory, highlight a show directory and choose "get show information" then it will successfully pick up a banner and description from TV.com but I can't get it to see any of the episodes. Can anyone see where I'm going wrong?
    I've done a lot of searching on the forums and I must be missing something fundamental because the above seems to me to be the right course of action.

    I'm using XBMC-SVN_2007-04-15_rev8519-T3CH

    Oh good god! I don't know how many examples I must have looked at where that was staring me in the face, I think I was so focused in on the regex I couldn't see the trees for the wood. It's happily adding all my episodes now.

    Yeah that one was just a typo.

    Can I also take a moment to say a massive thank you to all the devs for spending their time working on a really great piece of software. It makes the time I spend doing nothing so much more enjoyable.


  • I have a sort of the same problem. I use shared folders on my PC for series.

    d:series2424 Season 124.SE01E01.avi
    d:seriesLostLost.SE03E19.avi
    d:seruesscrubScrubs Season 4scrubs.s04e01.avi

    etc etc

    when i scan the series directory, nothing happens but he starts scanning IMDB (?) even when i used tv.com

    When i scan the 24 Season 1 folder he does grab the episodes info, but i dont see them in the library, neither do i see the series.

    what should i put in my advancesetings.xml? or should i change my directory structure??

  • Where is AdvancedSettings.xml? I can't seem to find it. Do I have to create it?
