The Sims 2 PC Technical Problem?

Posted on Jan 09, 2009 under xn--zqqs84h3is.com | edit
A few months ago I had some new memory installed into my computer to make it run faster, but unfortunately the memory was faulty and crashed whilst I was playing The Sims 2. For some reason, since then I haven't been able to play the game again. I have since had the memory replaced with a working one. I have most of the expansions for the game, so when I start it up I put in the most recent disc (which is Freetime). It then tries to install it, but cannot, as it wants me to install the base game again. I have tried this many times but it always freezes towards the end of the installation. I have deleted the old game folder, but on the 'Add/ remove programs' in my control panel, it still sees all my expansions, not the base game, and I cannot uninstall any of these expansions, it just doesn't do anything when I click 'uninstall'. If you are wondering, I use a PC.
I think I have a truly unique problem, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
