Style auto-tagging

Posted on Jan 09, 2009 under xn--zqqs84h3is.com | edit I'm creating a template for SRS documents. The SRS document list requirements and at the end shall have requirements traceability table.

There are a few problems:
1) How to auto-number/auto-tag requirements so they will appear unique ?
2) How to automatically collect all the requirements in the current document and list them in the left column of traceability table ? This needs to be done so that when a new requirement is added it will be inserted into traceability table automatically keeping other requirements intact (with their respective targets in the right columns)

I created a new style for requirements and now I need to figure out how to auto-number or auto-tag it when I apply my custom style to a line of text (requirement title).

Can someone explain what do I need to use to accomplish the above ? Do I need VBA ? Can I get away with macros and fields ?
