Skin name detection

  • Does anyone know of a reliable way of detecting the current skin in use ?

    Also tried searching in XML files but thats problamatic as they cant be relied on to be in the same place (or exist at all according to build age).

    Is there a builtin/infolabel that will report it (Skin.Currenttheme doesnt give away actual skin name) ?

    if it makes the task easier, I'd be happy to be able to just discover if its a MC360 style skin in use or not?

    any help appreciated.
    cheers

  • while i don't know, i'd imagine there's a way to grab guisettings from python

    lookandfeel.skintheme

  • yeah, it works just fine. thanks

  • I'm an idiot.! :blush:

    xbmc.getSkinDir()

  • that returns the skin folder (name), not from skin.xml, but it's probably what you need.

  • unless the online docs are out of date, I cant see any way of retrieving skin name from the builtins or infolabels?

    I'm hoping the name will be revealed using xmbc.getSkinDir()
