REQ: Moving items in All Programs

Posted on Jan 08, 2009 under xn--zqqs84h3is.com | edit
  • Is it possible to implement a feature to move items in All Programs? I mean, now I have a structure that I doesnt really looks good, like icon>folder>icon, icon>folder. I would like to be able to move items around to make it all look good. Any chance this can be implemented?

    Kindest regards,
    Diam0nd.

P.S. Also, moving of items is cruicial if I want to group programs according to their type, for instance move all graphics-related programs to All Programs>Graphics group and so on and so forth.

  • Try right clicking on the "All Programs" and choose Open.
Move the shortcuts to your liking - Ceedo All Programs just displays the shortcuts in these folders.

  • I have not found any way to intentionally reorder the Ceedo "All Programs" menu. In general, it seems to display the Common (i.e., All Users) start menu items first, then the User items, in the order in which they were installed/created. (Altering the create dates of the menu items, however, did not affect the order for me.)

You can create new folders to group stuff, just like you can in the regular Start Menu, but the display order is still not controllable.

I've taken to using LaunchBar Commander to replicate the "All Programs" menu in alphabetical order, using a folder node. It's quick, can be accessed from either a system tray icon or a toolbar, and works pretty well.
