  • If you want to stay with geocities (which I don't personally recommend), you can use free third-party services. Below are a few that I know of:

    Bravenet - www.bravenet.com
    CGISpy - www.cgispy.com

    Those two sites offer free third-party services such as a bulletin board system, form handlers, etc. You can check out HotScript.com's Remotely Hosted section. It has a list of sites you can get remotely hosted services at, all organized by the type of service (e.g. auctions, discussion forums, etc).

    I would recommend getting a paid host. You can get them cheap. As low as about $4.00/month. If you don't want to have to worry about installing scripts, setting up security, etc, then you can always use those third-party services.

    Try and find a host that has Fantastico. With Fantastico, it allows automatic installation of many popular scripts, including phpBB.


  • Geocities does not allow php and mysql however you can use a service somewhere else. Another option is find cheap paid for hosting. Here is a few google links I found. Check into each one and you can also ask us what we think if you find one.

    phpBB is a really good free one, however, please note that you must make sure its always upgraded and that those listed above will keep it that way for you. You might not be able to customize it also.
