Not true. AS still has a 1,000 mile bonus if you use the AS BoA VISA card.
AA's policy is 125 miles per segment for coach (up to 250) and 250 miles per segment for J/F (up to 500). The policy is found on the following page, which was found using a search of aa.com:

Given that the article is dated nine days ago, I'll have to go with the article being wrong in many spots rather than outdated, as the information that is now wrong was wrong nine days ago, too.
