New girl puppy with a 2 year old boy dog...?

  • So far it seems as if my 2 year old Rat Terrier and my new 3 month old pocket beagle get along. They play and for the most part there are no major issues. I have just noticed that my boy dog likes to like my girl dogs parts... she doesn't act like she cares, but it kinda bothers me. Is this something that I should try to stop or is it acceptable? Also does anyone have any tips on how to train my new puppy without my older dog getting worried that I am telling him NO? Thanks for any advice!!!!!

  • It is normal for your older dog to be interested in your new dog. I recommend getting them spayed and neutered. Its the responsible thing to do.

Also, train your puppy in private, away from the other dog at first. That way there is no confusion.

  • My boy dog and puppy girl had the same issues, and eventually they ended up being caught mating. The girl was not spayed yet, and we had the operation immediately, and then it stopped. If your new puppy is not spayed, do it. If she is, continue to tell your older dog no, because it is disturbing. Good luck.

  • This is normal. Make sure they are both fixed (spayed and neutered) when the puppy is old enough.

  • Dogs smell each other. Let them do this. It's natural.

Put your female dog in another room when you start training your puppy. Obviously if he's doing something wrong at other times, you have to correct him right away but that shouldn't bother your female.

  • they both need to be fixed. training your puppy should have nothing to do with telling the boy no.
