new 500gb hdd slow

  • hi.. i just installed a 500gb seagate harddrive on my xbox.. it is now taking longer to burn dvd's and to load things... i used xbox2hd program to create my xbox hard drive and then softmodded as normal...
i am wondering if this is due to me not partitioning the hard drive correctly or if it is the cluster size which i had no option in choosing or if it is the new ide cable that i am using... i currently have all my remaining hd space aside from the e: drive on my F: .. i did not create a G: drive since i had problems accessing it the first time? i heard that i have to run a partitioning program to partition the clusters to a larger size but am not sure... anyone know what might be wrong..?

  • simply stunning...

  • ok did a lil more research.. found out that HD's over 250g run into data corruption problems and that that is the reason why people use xbpartition to set cluster sizes to 32k... i installed and ran xbpartition and saw that my F: drive is set to 32k and that my c: e: x: etc are set to 16k... will this be a problem..if each partition is not set to 32k?

also... the ide cable that i use on my xbox is being used backwards... as the part that is suppose to connect to board is connected to the hard drive .. this is the only way that the ide cable can reach the dvdrom and hard drive... could this be the problem to why my hard drive is slow? could it be the fact that i am not using a G: drive?
    help
