need to delete 1st word of every paragraph

  • Hi,

I have 62 pages of references for a research paper but I need to sort them. Each one begins with: (A10) [or some number] so it looks like

(A5) Frances and York. Title, yada yada 2005.

What's the best way to create a for loop or something to delete these (A_) things?

    thanks

  • I reversed the order for any digit and any letter, but I assume that you figured this out.

  • In Word 2003 (not sure of previous versions) you can search for "(any digit-any letter) followed by a space".

Ctrl-H and in the "find what" area type an open parenthesis and in the Special area select any digit and then any letter followed by close parenthesis and a space. Replace with nothing and these will be deleted. You may want to go one at a time to make sure that things are working.
