Need help with mileage run

  • During Febuary, I am going to do a mileage run. I would like to leave from JFK and end up in ORF. I would like to fly on United and Northwest. It will probably be on Monday, I think it's the 21st. I would like to fly on a few large aircraft, if it's possible with out going across the country.

  • I would like between 5-10 thousand miles. And I would like it to be somewhere between $400 and $800. Would that be possible?


  • I am Platinum medallion member for DL and for CO I have Elite Status. I have been flying on DL and CO sinse I was very young. I always used to visit family in FL and CA. I have a lot of miles for AA, and US, and I have a lot of credits or what ever they are for WN and B6, and 1 credit for FL.

    I have only flown UA twice and NW once. I would like to try them agian to see if I will travel on them more often.

  • I would like to fly UA on 2/21, and returning on NW on 2/27. I would like regular FF miles. JKF/LGA-ORF/PHF vice versa. I would rather fly into PHF (Newport News, VA), but only DL, FL, and US fly there.

    How many miles do you need on NW? How many miles do you need on UA? Are you sure you want to spend $400-800 for 5,000 to 10,000 miles? 10,000 miles can be purchased for around $400 depending on the airline. Then spend $100-200 to buy a non-stop flight from NYC to save the hassle. Usually people take mileage runs to earn EQMs (Elite Qualification Miles) which can typically only be earned by actually flying. Since I'm bored and up for the challenge:

  • What airline would you like to earn each number of miles on? Do you need regular FF miles or do you need EQMs? What are your travel dates? I see a 2/21 departure, but no return date. We'd be happy to help if you gave all the pertinent info.

    I am going to book the mileage run with NW. As for the UA, everything is fine, but I want to add DEN. So it would be JFK-DEN-IAD-ORD-DFW-CLT-PHF. Also, if I booked this as 3 separate trips, would UA let me check-in all 3 at once online? What about NW?

  • I have already passed the EQM stage or however you want to word that for AA, CO, DL, and US. I barely ever fly on UA and NW, and thought I would give them a try, and If I like them, then I will fly for the EQM's.

    Huh?

    P.S. I don't think DEN is a vaild connection point on that routing I gave you. A DEN connection would likely add significantly to your fare. If you book three seperate trips you may have some difficultly. Also, you are guaranteed extra screening with one ways and all these connections.
