Need help with lip piercing size?

  • Last month I got my lip pierced.
I have a 15ga in it right now, but the bar is to long now , and also I want
a smaller ball .I tried switching to a 16ga, with a smaller ball. But the ball always seems to pop off and the flat part "sinks" into my lip so you cant really see it at all ( it may be because i have bigger lips, i don't know ) ANYWAYS my question is, what size should I buy to change it to? And another question I have is, It was pierced with a ball on both the inside and out, I got told it wasn't a proper lip ring, is that true ?

  • Usually when you get your lip pierced, they put in a labret stud. this is a post with a ball on the outside of your mouth and a flat circular plate on the inside. If you have a 15 gauge in right now, keep that size. The gauge only means the thickness of the post, not how long it is. Look for a 15g lip ring in whatever style you like, just get one with a shorter post and a smaller ball. If you don't like how the stud looks on your lip, i would suggest a ring instead.

It's not that it isn't a proper lip ring, it's just not the standard one

  • I always had a 16g in my lip.
I hated to studs with the flat back because they dug into my lip I I just used the double sided one.
Sometimes I would bite it off, but I would just have to screw the ball back on.
    No big deal.
Eventually I got fed up with studs and switched to rings.
    I like them better.
