When in Yahoo, I try and Navigate around and when I click on certain
items, such as "Politics" in the new section, I find the following
address on the address line and a message saying the page cannot be
displayed. This is the address I am getting:
http://rd.yahoo.com/dailynews/news/nav/*http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=index2&cid=703.
As you will note, it says http://rd.yahoo. I assume the rd means
redirect. When I go to the *http:// and delete the astric and
everything to the left and then hit enter, the page I am looking for
comes up. How do I solve this problem? I have spoken with Dell with
no resolution.
I am using Windows XP Professional.
This normally only happens in Yahoo. I open with IE 6 on a T1 line.

I tried to go into WIn 32 Drivers, etc. I found a number of
rd.yahoo.com and put "#" in front of them and it still does not solve
my problem. Any other suggestions. Thanks.
By your rating, looks like you got it. Glad to be of service. :)
100 %. The man is a genius. I had missed some instances where yahoo
was showing up and once I got rid of all of them, I can navigate
freely. Thanks som much. I have messed with this thing for six weeks
and have had some folks with real computer know-how stumped.
It appears that there are a number of software applications
(kazaa-lite, some ad blocking software, and possibly others) that
alter your hosts file to cause rd.yahoo.com to resolve to a different
(non-Yahoo) address. To solve the problem, edit your hosts file (in
/windows/system32/drivers/etc/) and remove or comment out (place an #
as the first character of the line) any lines which make reference to
yahoo.com.

If this doesn't solve your problem, please post a request for
clarification and I will do further research.
