My 6 year old son has never ever woken up dry; when should I try an alarm?

  • He doesn't want to yet, but I am tired of buying pullups.

  • now he needs to go the doctor

  • WOW at 6 years old he should be "fully" potty trained.
I would buy an alarm, make him get up and help change the bed nightly when it becomes wet.
If that doesn't work he needs to see a urologist.

  • maybe you should take him to the Dr. something might be wrong. Or don't put pull ups on him, I don't want to seem mean but if he pees in regular undies he will know what it feels like to have wet pants.

  • I would set a certain time that you wake him up every night. This worked great for my kids. It put their bodies on a timer. And now at 4 and 6 they wake up at about the same time if they have to go potty. ( Around mid-night) IF that doesn't work then you might want to talk to his doctor. He could have an incontinence problem that might need some attention from a doctor. But I wouldn't leave it up to him with an alarm clock. It's easy for him to turn off and go to sleep. Even a child of six knows how to unplug a cord, and then go to sleep.

  • What I did with my three year old son, was..I limited his drinks before going to bed. No drinks after six-thirty. Bedtime is at seven-thirty. He would go to the bathroom before going to bed. Then I would wake him up before I went to bed around eleven. If, I woke up to use the bathroom
in the middle of the night, I would make sure he went as well. Do this for about couple of weeks. If, it doesn't seem to be working. make sure to talk to his doctor. I have a 8 year old cousin, who cant wake herself at night to use the bathroom.
