  • Is anyone near the St.Paul,MN/Hudson,WI area that will be around Labor Day weekend? We are driving up from Houston for a dog trial and of course bringing little Tito on his first road trip (Lord help us, lol!!). Tito says he'd love to meet up w/ some new BT's, he needs some new blood to beat up on.  :2bosskiss

  • Hastings is right next to my hometown of Cottage Grove - I haven't been back there in ages. Will this be your first time in Minnesota?

  • You could take her to the Minnesota State Fair (it ends Labor Day). For that, you will need the patience of 100 Zen Masters - it is really busy. But, there are lots of rides, games, animals, FOOD, etc. Our state fair is usually pretty kick ass. Here is the link (http://www.mnstatefair.org/).

  • is it a schutshund trial?

  • It is being held at the Carpenter Nature Center?? (or something like that, in Hastings I think)

Yes, this will be my first time up there! I can't wait to see that part of the country AND get away from the 98 degree temps (105 heat index)here!!

well...maybe i'll have to throw George and Condie in the car and head down there........... Ohhhhhh no! Tito says he'll be embarrassed and feel like an unpedigreed southern redneck if seen around George and Condie! :Ohno: :HAHAHA: I told him to suck it up, he has a super pedigree and is the BEST BT speciman his mom has ever seen (LOL)...so yes, yall load up and come out for a visit!

Ohhhhhhhh, no thanks. I don't typically have the patience of 100 Zen Masters when it comes to extremely crowded place with loads of unruly screaming kids, LOL! We have a huge Livestock show and Rodeo here in Houston every year that I avoid like the plague! :greensmil :urplecuz6

  • LOL! Yall are funny. In Texas, it is just 'Texas' itself is better than anywhere else, doesn't matter what part you are from. :HAHAHA:

I do want to take my daughter to the Mall of Americas to ride the indoor rollercoasters and such. Is there anything else close around that would be interesting/different/fun for her? (she's 9)

  • ah yes Fort Snelling is very cool

  • well...maybe i'll have to throw George and Condie in the car and head down there...........

  • sounds cool! I've always wanted to go watch one of those, perhaps hubby and I will come down, hastings is only 30 minutes down the road. I assume unentered dogs are not welcome.

  • as a life long St Paulite I must put in my two cents here......I prefer St Paul, we have an awesome science museum, the best free zoo in the country, beautiful historic homes on summit ave. the Capital building and we're friendlier...LOL

  • Minneapolis :eviltongu

  • the Como zoo is open and free, the Minnesota zoo has a charge but is well worth the price.

    bodyworks is still there..

  • I'm all for going to new zoos. I think she and I will be free to do our own thing for most of the day on Friday so we'll probably try and cram it all in then. :sweating:

  • try the Minnesota zoo, it's pretty impressive.

  • It is actually a P.S.A. trial which is another form of protection sport. No tracking and the dogs bite the bad guy wearing a suit instead of a sleeve. :)

  • King Arthur lives in Hastings

That's cool - but promise me you will visit more parts of Minnesota than just Hastings - cuz that place is kind of - boring. It is an outer suburb - so not much to do - but it does have a pretty cool old time looking "downtown" area.

Minneapolis and St. Paul are much funner and there is a ton to do. Minnesotans usually have a strong preference for one or the other - I prefer Minneapolis (it really IS better). A good place to look for current events is in the City Pages (http://www.citypages.com/).

If you have the patience of a Zen master - you could check out the Mall of America. That place usually makes me almost go postal - but I think that is mainly cuz I used to work there. It's worth checking out at least. There is even a lightrail from downtown Mpls straight to the mall. Fun times!

There are several pet friendly hotels in Minneapolis as well. I know for a fact that the Millenium Hotel on Nicollet Mall (which isn't a Mall - it is a Street) is pet friendly - but kinda ritzy. Have fun!

  • we are in white bear lake, just north of st paul. where is the trial?

  • try the Minnesota zoo, it's pretty impressive.

Are both of the Zoos still open? I haven't gone to either one in AGES.

Anyway - I guess Kelly wins here - cuz the Zoo is in St. Paul. :nunu:

Ahem - also in St. Paul - the Science Museum's Omni Theatre is pretty cool - as is the museum itself. I know that the "Bodyworks" thing was there a while ago - not sure if it still is. But, it is supposedly really cool.

  • I was thinking about it - and the Mall of America and zoo's will probably be dead since everyone and their mother will be at the state fair. This is a good thing - you are very lucky! ;)

Welll....Tito will be there and he's not entered!LOL :boston te

  • My BF is from Stillwater area and this summer we went to the Fort in St. Paul and that was fun and educational they have actors acting out the 1700s
