What came first, the music or the misery?

  • People worry about kids playing with guns, or watching violent videos, that some sort of culture of violence will take them over. Nobody worries about kids listening to thousands, literally thousands of songs about heartbreak, rejection, pain, misery and loss.

Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?

    BEST MOVIE EVER!!!

MQ: Favourite movie to do with music?

  • I love High Fidelity. =)

MQ: Almost Famous, Control, Velvet Goldmine, I'm Not There, High Fidelity. (I didn't include concert films or documentaries.)

  • you listened to music because you were miserable.
music can make you miserable, but only if you force yourself to listen to rubbish.

best miserable song that will cheer me up (my life ain't that bad)
black sheets of rain - bob mould

    a: control

  • quite possibly pop music has helped to increase your misery as it's kind of educational... it opens your eyes to the many facets of life (many which you may never really experience!) and helps you realise what a crazy and funked up world this can be...
on the flipside it also should help open your eyes to beauty and all the good things that exist on this floating rock...

    interesting q, made me think...
